Author: DougHoff
Subject: Change your Homepage on Internet Explorer
Posted: 29 Apr 2012 at 5:35pm

Change your homepage on Internet Explorer -

If you would like to use a different homepage for Internet Explorer, then this is how you change your current homepage to your new choice. For this example we currently have our Homepage setup for Virgin Media but we just want to use the Google UK Homepage which will give us fast access to internet searches. This is how we would change the homepage from Virgin to Goggle:

1. Open Internet Explorer
Depending on which version of Internet Explorer you may be running (this tutorial is using Version 9) then look to your top right hand corner and you will see 3 symbols -
A house - which is your quick home button (this is your Homepage)
A star - this is your favourites button
A cog - this is a shortcut button to other settings

If you don't see these symbols then you are probably running an older version of Internet Explorer - read this bit still but skip down to where it says Older Version!

2. Click on the Cog and you will see various options
Print
File
Zoom
Safety
View Downloads and so forth...

See where it says Internet Options?
Choose that option

Just like the image below your current homepage will be highlighted in blue

To change the homepage to Google just type in:
http://www.google.co.uk/

Then just as the image below shows click Apply and then click OK

You have now changed your Homepage to the new Google page. Now when you click the Home Icon, your new homepage will load!

OLDER VERSIONS:

If you are running older versions of Internet Explorer you may not see the symbols we described earlier, but the way of changing the homepage is very similar. If you have a toolbar along the top of your browser window you may see the words -

File | Edit | View | Favourites | Tools | Help

Just select Tools >> Internet Options
and you can see where the images above come from

Once in safe mode I was taken to my log in screen, however, it did not recognise my log in details so I could go no further. I should say my laptop is a work laptop and is encrypted. Would this be the reason it did not recognise my log in details in safe mode? Would starting in safe mode with networking solve this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the answer is yes then it would be reasonable to use a .co.uk for your website. With over 10 million .co.uk domains on the Nominet Registrar, the annual growth rate is 7.84% which still shows a high demand for .co.uk extensions. Source: Nominet
If companies and small businesses are still buying .co.uk domains, then there must be a good reason for them to do this. It is also more than likely that UK users prefer using .co.uk addresses.

If your target audience is global rather than just the UK, then use a .com (dot com) domain

In most cases we always tend to recommend buying both extensions if they are available, even if you intend on just using the .co.uk, you would not really then want someone else buying the .com version of your domain name, and trying to "steal" your brand and identity.

Step by step the removal process can be a bit time consuming, as the application which is a browser add on, resets your homepage and mucks around with all the internet searches too. It will install itself on any browser you have installed on your computer, so getting rid of it is not just as simple as clicking a switch. In order the tasks are:

1.
